This Is How You Can Save Time Everyday with Simple Text Expanders

How to save time everyday with text expanders

Text expanders are one of my favorite efficiency tricks that I use everyday to speed up tedious work. In case you’re unfamiliar with what they are, text expanders are programs that will looks for “shortcuts” that you’ve written and “expand” or convert them into longer words.

But you’re not limited to just words. You can use text expanders much like Outlook’s signatures to compose entire email templates. One of my favorite uses is to use them for longer business names or project names that you’re using frequently.

Here are some of my examples:
-fm
{turns into} tia@faithmaxwell.com

-ty {turns into} Thanks, Tia

-approve {turns into}
Attached is our ad that we are placing in PUBLICATION to run on DATE. Please review the ad and let me know if it is approved, approved with changes, or needs revision with a new proof.

These are just a few simple examples of how you can use it, there are a lot more possibilities to make your life easier and lessen how much you’re typing.

For Mac I use aText. There are options for Windows, but I haven’t personally explored them yet.
